My writing has improved!!
During this competition I have learned many computer and writing skills. I have really enjoyed this competition. I enjoyed writing about and learning new things about the different topics that we have written about. For some of the topics we had to actually do research and learn more things about the topic, which was interesting. My writing, I believe, has changed a little during this whole competition. We have been writing so much that it has come natural to me. Before this competition, I struggled in writing about topics that did not interest me, and having to write my opinion about certain topics. I also had difficulties getting ideas on what to write on the topic. This competition has helped me accomplish those skills.
In addition to having the blogs, in my language arts class we have done A LOT of writing. We write almost everyday. Every week we have an essay write that we do at home, on a website called Myaccess.com. We write the essays and then it grades us from a 1 through 6 – one being the lowest and 6 being the highest score. It also tells us what mistakes we made- In grammar and spelling – and tells us how we can fix learning. Also learning in -class- what we can do to boost up are scores. I feel that my writing skills have improved since the beginning of the school year.
For eight graders, it is a big year. We have the writing FCAT this year. So, we have to work very hard this year. This is why we are doing so much practice in writing. In language Arts we started to learn how to improve our persuasive writing. Every Wednesday is writing day in our class, so the whole class period we are writing for 45 minutes. During the FCAT writing we have only 45 minutes to complete and look over our essays. So we are practicing how to improve our sentence variety and how to correctly revise our essays.
As you can see, this competition has helped me practice my writing skills as well as practicing in language arts class
